Buddy Crumb Pty Ltd T/A Tanunda Bakery Business Address: 181 Murry St, Tanunda, South Australia, 5352 The Retail Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing the entire retail operations of the bakery to ensure efficient, profitable, and compliant store performance. This role includes managing staff, supervising daily activities, upholding customer service standards, controlling stock and inventory, implementing sales strategies, and ensuring compliance with food safety and workplace regulations. The Retail Manager will actively contribute to business growth, improve operational performance, and maintain a high-quality retail experience for all customers. Salary: $75,000 to $85,000 per annum plus superannuation Key Duties and Responsibilities: Retail Operations and Store Management • Manage the day-to-day retail operations of the bakery to ensure smooth and efficient store performance. • Coordinate opening and closing procedures, daily operational activities, and workflow within the retail environment. • Ensure bakery products are attractively displayed, appropriately labelled, and maintained to a high presentation standard. • Monitor product availability and coordinate timely replenishment of stock to meet customer demand. • Maintain cleanliness and presentation standards throughout the retail premises. Inventory and Stock Coordination • Monitor stock movement, product turnover, and inventory levels across bakery and retail items. • Coordinate ordering of retail supplies, packaging materials, and bakery stock in consultation with management and suppliers. • Conduct regular stocktakes and maintain accurate inventory records. • Minimise wastage and stock loss through effective stock handling and monitoring procedures. Customer Service and Sales • Ensure a high standard of customer service is consistently delivered to all customers. • Assist customers with product enquiries, recommendations, and general service requirements. • Handle customer concerns, complaints, and feedback professionally and efficiently. • Support initiatives aimed at improving customer engagement, repeat business, and overall sales performance. Staff Supervision and Coordination • Supervise retail employees and bakery assistants during daily operations. • Allocate work duties and monitor staff performance to ensure operational efficiency. • Assist in onboarding and training new employees regarding workplace procedures, customer service standards, and operational expectations. • Prepare and manage staff rosters based on operational requirements and business demands. • Foster a positive and productive workplace environment. Financial and Administrative Duties • Oversee point-of-sale operations, cash handling procedures, and daily transaction reconciliations. • Maintain operational records relating to sales, stock movement, and daily retail activities. • Assist management in monitoring operational costs and improving retail efficiency. • Prepare basic operational reports and communicate business requirements to management as required. Compliance and Workplace Safety • Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety policies and procedures. • Monitor adherence to food safety, hygiene, and sanitation requirements within the bakery retail environment. • Ensure employees follow safe work practices and company operational standards. • Assist management in maintaining compliance with relevant business and industry regulations. Skills, Qualifications and Experience Essential: • A relevant qualification (e.g., Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Retail Management, Business, or equivalent) OR at least two years of relevant retail management experience. • Previous experience in a bakery, hospitality, food retail, or fast-paced customer service environment. • Strong leadership and team management capabilities. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Demonstrated organizational and problem-solving abilities. • Experience in inventory management, staff supervision, and daily retail operations. • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
