Job Type: Permanent position | Casual position

Canex has an opportunity for 10 x Casual Farmhands/Machinery operators in the Ipswich, Queensland and surrounding areas. The roles can vary but you may be tasked with the following:

• Harvesting Sugarcane and/or other crops, including cutting cane/crops by hand and/or harvesters.
• Bundling and loading cane/crops onto transport vehicles.
• Transport Assistance, operating or helping load trucks, trailers, or cane bins.

Ensuring cane is quickly transported to the mill to prevent deterioration.

• Operating Machinery, including driving tractors and bin hauling.
• Basic machinery maintenance and refueling.
• Maintenance and Cleaning including cleaning and maintaining tools and equipment.
• Keeping work areas clean and safe.
• Following Safety Protocols including wearing protective gear and following farm safety rules; reporting hazards or equipment malfunctions.
• General Farm labouring

Training will be provided for basic machinery operation and all safety protocols will be followed. For this exciting role you must have a good level of physical fitness, as you are on your feet and active for the majority of your shift. Requirements:

• Ready and able to work long shifts (12 hours a day)
• Be flexible in your approach to work
• A great attitude with your work
• Be neat in tidy
• Be able to work alone or part of a team.

You will be required to work an average of 30 hours per week. The term of work will be from June 2025 to June 2026. You will be paid under the one of the following awards:

• Sugar Industry Award [MA000087]
• Horticulture Award [MA000028]
• Pastoral Award [MA000035]
• The work will range in pay from an ordinary rate of Level 1 $29.33/hr up to Level 3 $30+/hr, or under a Piece rate under the relevant award for Levels 1 to 3.
• Working hours will vary from anywhere from 5am to 8pm, 7 days per week.
• Overtime rates will be paid where applicable
• Upskilling & additional allowances may also be paid if you were trained in extra tasks.
