What You’ll Be Running
You’ll be the driving force behind our Electrical Workshop operations — leading trades, mentoring apprentices, and making sure every job that leaves the floor meets Alfabs’ exacting standards of quality and performance.
Responsibilities
Your day might include:
- Leading workshop teams to smash production targets in a collaborative and productive environment
- Mentoring trades and apprentices with real coaching, skills feedback and leadership
- Running toolbox talks and daily pre-starts to align safety, quality and production goals
- Managing workshop operations including timesheets, workshop readiness and housekeeping standards
- Monitoring productivity and maintaining accurate internal reporting systems
- Ensuring equipment is operated correctly and coordinating maintenance, repairs and consumables
- Interpreting engineering drawings and specifications to guide workshop activities
- Managing changing job priorities and project demands without losing momentum
- Planning and scheduling manpower with the Workshop Manager
- Conducting final product inspections prior to dispatch
- Reporting
- Leading workshop teams to smash production targets in a collaborative and productive environment
- Mentoring trades and apprentices with real coaching, skills feedback and leadership
- Running toolbox talks and daily pre-starts to align safety, quality and production goals
- Managing workshop operations including timesheets, workshop readiness and housekeeping standards
- Monitoring productivity and maintaining accurate internal reporting systems
- Ensuring equipment is operated correctly and coordinating maintenance, repairs and consumables
- Interpreting engineering drawings and specifications to guide workshop activities
- Managing changing job priorities and variances and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
- Managing consumables and tooling so the team always has what they need
- Working with WHS, Quality and HR teams to maintain high operational standards
- Stepping up and acting in the Workshop Manager role when required

- Qualifications
- Relevant Trade Qualification
- Current Driver’s Licence
- Forklift Ticket
- AS3800 Responsible Person Competency
- Qualified NSW Supervisor’s Licence
Experience
- Minimum 3 years in a similar industrial environment
- Experience managing people and workshop teams
- Proven leadership supervising multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong ability to drive outcomes through leadership and problem solving
- Experience in repair and overhaul of underground mining machinery
- Demonstrated experience in supervisory or leadership roles
