Deputy Operations Manager

JR Hammer is a leading Australian recycling company based in Thomastown Victoria. We collect and process copper cables, PVC, and other materials to support a cleaner, greener future.

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Deputy Operations Manager to lead our day-to-day recycling operations, drive efficiency, support continuous improvement, and motivate a high-performing shop floor team.

Key Responsibilities

Operations Management:

• Oversee all aspects of the recycling facilitys operations, ensuring smooth and efficient workflows.

• Coordinate logistics, including the movement of materials and drop-off/pick-up of bins.

• Assist and supervise plant operators and drivers to ensure quality output and safety.

• People Leadership:

• Lead and motivate a diverse operations team by setting clear goals and expectations.

• Promote a strong workplace culture focused on safety, teamwork, and accountability.

• Conduct regular operational meetings and performance check-ins.

Process & Compliance:

• Maintain plant and equipment, coordinating repairs and preventative maintenance.

• Monitor safety, environmental, and quality procedures to meet compliance standards.

• Contribute to the development of new recycling processes and customer-focused solutions.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Previous experience managing operations in manufacturing, logistics, or recycling.

• Forklift license and ability to drive a heavy rigid (HR) truck - preferred but not essential.

• Demonstrated leadership and decision-making skills.

• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.

• Comfortable working hands-on and leading by example.
