About Us:
CODA is a new 40 seat neighbourhood wine bar and café opening soon in Chermside, and we're building something special! Inspired by the easy rhythm of Italian bars, CODA is a place to gather and enjoy simple pleasures and sometimes indulge in something special, delivered by people who love what they do.
By day, our menu offers fresh, deli-style bites, light meals and house-baked treats; by early evening, it evolves into thoughtful seasonal dishes made for sharing and grazing. With more than 30 wines available by the glass, alongside a curated list of cocktails and spirits, CODA is about celebrating both the everyday and the extraordinary.
We're creating a venue where staff are valued and guests feel at home, whether it's your morning coffee, a quick midweek lunch or dinner, a night out with friends and family, one of our special events, or a champagne toast to life's milestones. And we're looking for team members who want to be part of shaping that experience from the very beginning.
The Role: We're looking for a hands-on Chef to lead our small back of house at CODA who can match our love of good produce and our deep desire to bring joy to our customers through the food we prepare.
This is a fulltime position (Wednesday-Sunday) with no mornings or very late nights, and an earlier finish on Sundays.
You'll take charge of day-to-day kitchen operations, working closely with the owners and front-of-house team so we can deliver a cohesive food and beverage experience that makes people smile. The role includes creating and executing seasonal menus, regular specials, and event menus while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and consistently high quality. You will have the opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the food identity of a brand-new neighbourhood wine bar and café from the beginning.
What we offer:
The chance to help define and develop the culinary direction of a new venue
Creative freedom to design seasonal menus and regular event offerings.
Committed owners and a collaborative, supportive team passionate about food, wine and hospitality.
Ongoing training and professional development opportunities
Dedicated Chef carpark
What you offer:
Must still have a genuine love of feeding people!
Proven experience as Head Chef or Sous Chef in a similar setting.
Ability to work solo at times as well as confidence to lead a small team while managing kitchen operations smoothly.
A strong understanding of seasonal, produce-driven cooking with European influences and food and beverage pairing.
A collaborative mindset and willingness to work with FOH to deliver consistently outstanding customer experiences.
Commitment to maintaining high standards of quality, consistency and food safety.
