About the Position
Bellbird Brothers Pty Ltd is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Accountant to join our team in Traralgon, Victoria.
The Accountant will be responsible for maintaining and analysing the company's financial information, preparing financial and management reports, monitoring financial performance and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of accounting records.
The position will also provide financial analysis and advice to management to support budgeting, cost control, compliance and informed business decision-making.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Preparing and analysing financial statements, management accounts, profit and loss statements, balance sheets and other financial reports.
Examining income, expenditure and operating costs and analysing the financial performance of the business.
Preparing budgets, cash-flow forecasts and financial projections, and monitoring actual performance against approved budgets.
Maintaining and reviewing general ledger accounts and ensuring financial transactions are accurately recorded and appropriately classified.
Performing bank, balance sheet, accounts payable and accounts receivable reconciliations and investigating discrepancies.
Preparing and reviewing financial information required for BAS, GST, taxation and other statutory reporting obligations.
Assisting with the preparation of taxation returns and ensuring appropriate accounting records and supporting documentation are maintained.
Establishing, reviewing and maintaining accounting systems, financial procedures and internal controls to support accurate and reliable financial reporting.
Conducting financial analysis and investigating variances in revenue, expenditure, costs and profitability, and reporting findings to management.
Providing financial advice and recommendations to management regarding budgeting, cost management, cash flow and business performance.
Preparing financial information and supporting documentation for external accountants, auditors and regulatory requirements.
Identifying and recommending improvements to accounting procedures, financial controls and reporting processes.
Qualifications and Experience
The successful applicant will possess:
A Bachelor degree or higher qualification in Accounting, or a relevant tertiary qualification with a substantial accounting component;
Relevant 1 year professional accounting experience in Australia/Overseas
Sound knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting and Australian taxation requirements;
Demonstrated experience in financial reporting, budgeting, reconciliations and financial analysis;
Competency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel;
Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills;
High attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate and confidential financial records; and
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
