Production Engineer Salary: $80,000 - $120,000 per annum plus superannuation
Hours: 38 hours per week
Full-time Location: St Marys NSW
Experience required: Relevant qualifications and at least 1 year of relevant experience. Oriem is a fast-growing company in the concrete steel reinforcement industry supplying to builders / developers and concreters.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and improve production processes.
- Analyse workflow, production methods, and layouts to enhance efficiency.
- Implement lean manufacturing.
- Collaborate with planning teams to ensure timely production.
- Allocate resources (manpower, machines, materials) efficiently.
- Ensure adherence to production schedules and adjust plans as needed.
- Oversee maintenance of machinery and production equipment.
- Investigate equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams to minimize downtime.
- Ensure that products meet quality standards and specifications.
- Work with quality control (QC) teams to identify defects and resolve issues.
- Implement quality improvement initiatives.
- Analyse production costs and identify cost‑saving opportunities.
- Monitor usage of raw materials, utilities, and Labor.
- Work with procurement and finance teams to control expenses.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards.
- Conduct risk assessments and safety audits.
- Train staff on safe operating procedures and emergency protocols.
- Collect and analyse production data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Generate regular reports on productivity, downtime, quality, and efficiency.
- Use ERP/MES systems for tracking production metrics.
- Liaise with R&D, quality, maintenance, logistics, and procurement departments.
- Support new product introduction and process transitions.
- Provide feedback for product design improvements from a manufacturing perspective.
- Support the adoption of automation and digital tools in production lines.
- Evaluate and implement new technologies to improve production capabilities.
- Work with IT teams on system integration and data management.
- Supervise operators and technicians on the shop floor.
- Provide technical guidance and training to production staff.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in production engineeringSkills
- At least 1 years of commercial experience in Production Engineering.
- Knowledge of metal fabrication, machining and forming processes.
- Knowledge of ISO9001 standard and audit process.
- Production experience in a fast-moving manufacturing environment.
- A successful track record of change and process improvement.
- Ability to identify solutions based on a mixture of analysis, experience and judgment.
- Excellent planning and time management skills.
- An effective verbal and written communicator for all levels of the organisation.
