We are seeking to establish a pool of Language Teachers for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
The RoleThe School of Isolated and Distance Education (SIDE) delivers Kindergarten to Year 12 (K-12) second language programs in Chinese, French, Indonesian, Italian and Japanese, with a large team of more than 30 language teachers. Our students are predominantly in small regional and remote schools and have a range of diverse cultural backgrounds. We are seeking highly skilled and enthusiastic language teachers with the capacity to develop and deliver quality languages programs suited to delivery in a distance education context. We are looking for dynamic teachers who would bring classroom energy into our online environment, inspiring and engaging our students around Western Australia and beyond. If you are excited about sharing your passion for language and culture, working collaboratively in a vibrant team environment and immersing yourself in the online teaching and learning space, this could be a role for you.
To be suitable for this role, you should have a qualification to teach one or more of the languages offered at SIDE, thorough understanding of the Western Australian Curriculum: Languages, and experience delivering high quality, effective and engaging programs to language students in a primary and/or lower secondary context. The capacity to teach language courses at Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) level will also be highly regarded. You should embrace the idea of delivering the curriculum through information communication technology (ICT), exhibit innovation and creativity in classroom practices and be able to cater for students with culturally diverse backgrounds and a range of needs and abilities.

Teachers at SIDE participate in our regional travel program to meet the needs of students and partner schools. Visits are planned in negotiation with staff, and at times may include short-term stays in regional and remote locations.
SIDE has a main campus in Leederville and teaching facilities at Canning College, Clarkson Community High School and Northlake Senior Campus. Teachers based in the metropolitan area may be required to work at any one of these or future venues. SIDE also has teaching facilities at Eaton Community College to accommodate teachers living in the Southwest.
