Senior Investigator

Full-time | Permanent | North Parramatta & Sydney CBD | Hybrid

Uniting is seeking a highly experienced and values-driven Senior Investigator to lead complex, sensitive investigations across our organisation.

This is a critical role that safeguards the people we support and strengthens our culture of accountability, integrity, and transparency across regulated programs and services.

This is an opportunity for an investigator who combines technical expertise with compassion, sound judgement, and the ability to navigate highly sensitive matters with professionalism and care.

You will lead end-to-end investigations into reportable conduct, serious misconduct, and critical incidents, applying trauma-informed, child-safe, and legally compliant practices at all times.

You will also mentor other investigators, contribute to safeguarding initiatives, and play an important role in Uniting’s Speak Up and Whistleblower programs.

What you’ll be responsible for

As Senior Investigator, you will:

• Lead complex investigations from intake through to outcome
• Apply trauma-informed, child-safe, and procedurally fair investigation practices
• Conduct root cause analysis and identify systemic risks and improvements
• Provide clear, practical advice and recommendations to senior leaders
• Support and respond to whistleblower disclosures with integrity and care
• Mentor and guide investigators to uphold best practice standards
• Contribute to safeguarding projects and strategic improvement initiatives
• Maintain accurate case management records and support internal and external reporting

What you’ll bring

• Bachelor qualification in a relevant field or equivalent experience
• Minimum 5 years’ experience conducting complex investigations (regulatory, criminal, child protection, or workplace)
• Strong knowledge of the NSW Reportable Conduct Scheme and child protection legislation
• Expertise in evidence gathering, including interviewing children and vulnerable people
• Sound judgement, discretion and the ability to manage highly sensitive matters
• Excellent problem-solving, negotiation, mediation, and conflict resolution skills
• A solid understanding of WHS and risk management principles in investigative work
• Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment

Desirable

• Postgraduate qualifications in investigations
• Knowledge of child development and trauma-informed practice
• Experience in internal integrity or misconduct investigations
