Overview
The Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (VP, CFO) Foot Locker APAC is responsible for providing direction to senior management, in all the areas of Finance with the challenge of maximizing the operating unit’s profits. The position requires a theoretical and practical application of specialized knowledge, as the incumbent will be called upon to make high-level, executive decisions regarding the operations of the business, with regard to Foot Locker APAC.
Responsibilities
- In conjunction with the VP, General Manager APAC, develop company financial objectives for both long-term and short-term operations and strategies to achieve those objectives.
- Review and approve operating budgets and conduct financial reviews to monitor operating performance of Foot Locker APAC.
- Forecast financial results and gross margin on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis.
- Provide in-depth expense and gross margin analysis and drive corrective actions and improvements.
- Balance sheet reconciliation and accrual analysis.
- Ensure accurate, timely and appropriate accounting for all areas of Foot Locker APAC, based on Corporate policies and legal requirements, including statutory and US accounting principles (US GAAP).
- Participate in the company’s operating review meetings, providing direction and decision making as appropriate.
- Participate in margin conversations relating to sales, markdowns, shrink and discounts; develop and train staff in these areas.
- Execute decisions based on Sarbanes Oxley’s impact on internal controls.
- Ensure appropriate steps are taken in the areas of risk management and loss prevention to minimize company exposure.
- Maintain thorough understanding and involvement in store payroll from an expense and operational position.
- Oversee all aspects of Finance, including Payroll, Payroll Accounting, G/L, Tax and Statutory Accounting.
- Provide specific direction and leadership to the finance team; ensure all management under their direction are aware of corporate objectives and perform to accomplish them.
Qualifications
- Experience serving in senior management positions (preferably principal positions) with major mass merchant or department store arenas.
- Strong retail background with knowledge of Finance, store operations and merchandising procedures.
- CPA/CA qualifications.
- Proven professional experience in Finance, including Accounting, Payroll, G/L, Tax, and Risk Management.
- Requires strong financial analysis ability with a track record for expense control and meeting budgets.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and Australian financial regulatory requirements.
- Prior track record for expense control and meeting budgets; experience with a public company and a sound knowledge of fiduciary responsibilities.
- Track record for attracting and surrounding oneself with high-caliber people.
- Strong supervisory, delegation, organizational and communication skills.
