About the role:
Full-time contract position to June 2027, located in Port Macquarie NSW
Base annual rate of $82,622 to $90,226 negotiable based on experience & qualifications
12% super plus access to generous NFP salary packaging options
About the opportunity:
In this rewarding role, you’ll work alongside young people through engaging group programs, activities and evidence-based initiatives designed to strengthen mental wellbeing, communication skills, confidence and community connection.
You’ll create supportive and inclusive environments where young people can develop healthy coping strategies, build positive relationships, and access the right supports when they need them most.
Through your work, you’ll help reduce vulnerabilities linked to challenges such as poor mental health, school disengagement and domestic violence — making a real impact where it matters most.
No two days will look the same. One day you may be facilitating a youth group activity, the next supporting a young person to access local services, building partnerships with schools or community organisations, or helping create programs that foster confidence and belonging.
What you’ll be doing:
Facilitate engaging youth-focused groups and activities across the Kempsey and Hastings LGAs
Deliver evidence-based programs that strengthen wellbeing, resilience and life skills
Support young people with advocacy, information, referrals and connections to local services
Coach young people in areas such as communication, self-care and healthy coping strategies
Build strong partnerships with schools, community organisations and local stakeholders
Contribute to meaningful outcomes through quality record keeping, reporting and program evaluation
Your Qualifications & Experience
A tertiary qualification in Youth Work or a related field
At least 2 years’ experience working in the youth sector
Experience planning and facilitating youth groups or programs
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
A passion for social justice and supporting vulnerable young people to succeed
Current NSW Drivers licence & NSW WWCC
