An exciting opportunity has become available for a technically strong actuary to join a leading global insurer as part of a high-performing pricing team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building pricing infrastructure, solving complex modelling challenges and working closely with both actuarial and technology teams to deliver commercial outcomes.
You’ll play a key role in developing and enhancing pricing capability across a large commercial insurance portfolio, with exposure to cutting-edge modelling techniques, predictive analytics and modern pricing tools.
The OpportunityAs a Technical Pricing Actuary, you will:
- Design, build and test pricing algorithm infrastructure across multiple insurance portfolios.
- Develop and enhance predictive pricing models using internal and external data.
- Troubleshoot technical modelling issues and improve pricing performance.
- Partner with pricing actuaries, underwriters and technology teams to deliver robust pricing solutions.
- Work closely with external vendors to implement and enhance pricing platforms.
- Perform deep-dive portfolio analysis and provide actionable commercial insights.
- Contribute to the ongoing evolution of pricing capability, governance and modelling best practice.
About YouWe’re looking for an actuary or quantitative professional who brings:
- Progress towards, or completion of, an actuarial qualification (or a degree in Actuarial Studies, Statistics, Mathematics or another quantitative discipline).
- Experience developing pricing models using GLM, GBM or other predictive modelling techniques.
- Strong programming skills in Python or R, together with SQL.
- Experience building, validating and implementing pricing models rather than simply maintaining existing models.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capability with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience in the Australian general insurance market is highly regarded, particularly within commercial or SME insurance.
- Experience with Radar or similar pricing software will be viewed favourably.
