Our 2026 Apprentice Intake is now open, offering two exciting trades: Diesel Fitting and Auto Electrical. At Joyce Mechanical, we specialise in heavy equipment maintenance, component rebuilds, and field service support for the mining industry. Based in Mackay, we work with some of the biggest operators in the Bowen Basin, keeping fleets safe, reliable, and productive.

Diesel Fitter Apprenticeship
Learn how to maintain, repair and optimise heavy machinery - from haul trucks to dozers. You'll gain the technical knowledge and practical skills that keep some of the world's toughest machines running at their best.
Auto Electrician Apprenticeship
Step into the fast-paced world of modern mining machinery. You'll learn to diagnose, repair and install complex electrical systems and components that drive the next generation of equipment.

What we're looking for:
A genuine interest in mechanics, engineering, or electrical systems.
Driver's licence and access to a vehicle (P plates accepted, L plates not).
Good written and verbal communication.
Willingness to work 12-hour shifts and occasional Saturdays.
Ability to take direction and follow safety standards.
Year 12 completion is an advantage but not essential.
Strong work ethic and eagerness to learn.
Based locally in Mackay QLD or willing to relocate before starting.
