The Team

The Temporary Election Workforce (TEW) Support section is responsible for the provision of the ‘Employ Train Pay’ (ETP) helpdesk and payroll services for the Temporary Election Workforce (TEW) engaged by the AEC through an Election event.

To support these critical functions, the section provides advice and support to divisions regarding conditions of employment, engagement and payment of the TEW. As well as, administers, maintains and provides advice in relation to the AEC TEW employment and pay systems.

The team provides first point of call advice and support for divisional enquiries related to the TEW election training and supports divisions in payroll services for TEW including administration, reconciliation and payment exceptions.

The Opportunities

Under supervision, you will be operating in a busy helpdesk setting, providing verbal and written advice and support to divisions regarding conditions of employment, engagement and payment of the TEW.

You will be the first point of call for advice and support for divisional enquiries related to the TEW election training, employment and pay systems functionality, pay reconciliation and superannuation payments.

In this role, you will cultivate and maintain stakeholder relationships, make decisions and resolve issues with guidance from more senior staff.

To excel youll have:

  • The ability to work under general supervision and direction, exercising some autonomy regarding how work tasks are performed.
  • Ability to apply standard procedures to meet stakeholder requirements, assist in solving stakeholder problems and seek assistance as appropriate.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities across several different programs/ projects within tight timeframes and in line with legislative requirements.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively whilst anticipating stakeholder needs and expectations across a geographically dispersed network.
  • Demonstrated personal integrity whilst achieving results within legislative and policy parameters.
  • A demonstrated strong commitment to working harmoniously within a team to achieve positive results and support the AEC’s electoral outcomes.

  • AEC employees must be Australian citizens.
  • Any person who is, and seen to be active in political affairs, and intends to publicly carry on this activity, may compromise the strict neutrality of the AEC and cannot be considered.
