The Bureaus observing networks asset portfolio is distributed across all states and territories of Australia, and includes radars, satellite ground stations, balloon launchers, automatic weather stations, and tide gauges. Your role will involve asset lifecycle management of the infrastructure and facilities supporting these systems, enabling provision of reliable, weather observation data that is vital to the Bureaus forecasting and warning services. You will be responsible for managing a variety of infrastructure assets, including buildings and equipment, radar towers, masts for instruments and antennas, generators, renewable power systems, facilities, building management and security systems. This also includes Bureau infrastructure at remote locations such as Willis Island, Giles, Macquarie Island and Antarctica.

Reporting to the Observing Networks Service Manager, you will play an important role within the broader Enterprise Asset Management Team, contributing to development of a high performing asset management culture aligned with the Asset Management standard ISO 55000.

You will work closely with stakeholders and teams across the Bureau, including Property Services, National Observing Operations, and Infrastructure Delivery, to ensure that our infrastructure assets are safe, supportable, maintainable throughout the asset lifecycle.

Importantly, you will also act as deputy to the Observing Networks Service Manager role, assisting with managerial duties for the wider team of asset managers. You will support activities including risk management, reporting, and quality management, the development of our asset management capability. You will also drive improvement in content and effective use of the Enterprise Asset Management System (Maximo) for Asset lifecycle planning within the team.

The ideal candidate will have strong asset management capability with experience supporting technical equipment, infrastructure, and facilities in remote field-based environments. They will have a strong safety, sustainability and quality mindset and be a team player.
