The Opportunity Communication is primarily with the supervisor and then encompasses all staff within the multidisciplinary team including nursing, allied health, and administration.
Deliver comprehensive quality service to meet the needs of residents, and environmental standards, under the direction and or supervision of a supervisor, within his / her level of experience and training. Undertake any education necessary to maintain currency relevant to his / her role. Maintain standards of the public health care sector and be compliant with the Code of Conduct and Aged care Standards.
Employment Term

  • Casual (Two positions available)
Benefits:
  • Salary rates between $37.30-$40.22 p.h. (casual rate) (OO2)
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution

Role responsibilities

  • Adheres to the philosophy of the Townsville hospital and health service and of Parklands residential aged care facility.
  • Participate in preventative maintenance program to ensure a clean and hygienic environment for residents living in the residential aged care facility in accordance with relevant guidelines.
  • Distribute meals to residents of Parklands residential aged care facility within the food safety program guidelines and maintain relevant record keeping.
  • Participate in the development, implementation, review and maintenance of internal systems, processes and work practices while adhering to procedures and maintaining a team approach within a changing environment.
  • Complies with the manual handling policy whilst conducting their work. Staff of Parklands Residential Aged Care Facility are instructed on the principles of Manual handling, Elder abuse, Safe food handling, Hand hygiene and Fire safety techniques.
  • Notifies OSO Senior Supervisor of any unsafe work practices or equipment in compliance with quality management systems developed for Parklands residential aged care facility.
  • Identify areas for improvement and recommend/implement enhancements to existing practices. Contribute to the achievement of continuous Quality Improvement via the relevant aged care standards.
  • High-level of both written and oral communication skills to liaise with residents and health care professionals respecting residents rights and interests, while committing to resident and staff confidentiality.
  • Ability to work across all roles within the Operational Service Officer scope as a team member to achieve goals of the work unit.
Role requirements

  • National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Worker Screening Check: As a Health Care worker in Queensland Health who engages in risk-assessed roles, you must hold a current disability check (Yellow Card or Yellow Card Exemption) or an NDIS worker screening check, in accordance with Part 5 of the Disability Services Act 2006 (Qld).
