Mackay Regional Council is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill the role of Operations Officer on a Permanent full-time contract. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the success of our Property and Plant team, ensuring efficient service delivery, compliance, and the overall well-being of our workplace.


Position Objective:

As an Operations Officer, you will play a crucial role in providing a high level of operational and technical support to the Property and Plant team. Your responsibilities will include support service delivery and assist with compliance in the workplace, capital projects delivery, facility operation, administrative tasks, and associated financial processes.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate a safe and healthy workplace environment.
  • Coordinate contractors for minor projects and oversee Work Health & Safety (WHS) tasks.
  • Administer the Emergency Sub Plan and Workplace Health and Safety Management System.
  • Ensure compliance of contractors with contractual obligations.
  • Organise and administer the Property & Plant accountabilities in relation to Security Contracts, including servicing, access control, and alarm responses.
  • Assist in the development and use of the Council’s Asset Management System.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as directed by your immediate supervisor.


Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

  • Qualifications in Business Administration, Facilities Management, or other relevant field, or lesser formal qualifications combined with relevant experience.
  • QLD “C” Class Drivers Licence or interstate equivalent. Note: interstate licences must be transferred to QLD within three (3) months of commencement.
  • Sound experience in developing and maintaining effective working relationships. Including coordinating contractors, tradespeople, suppliers, and associated service providers.
  • Experience in an administration position.
  • Sound experience in the planning, scheduling, and delivery of minor projects and maintenance tasks.
  • Working knowledge of computer operation skills with the ability to use corporate systems, security systems, and Microsoft Office products.
