Supervisor

QBuild is a commercialised business unit of the Queensland Government. It has been Queensland Governments builder for over 160 years, playing an important role in communities across the state by building and maintaining government-owned assets such as schools, social housing, police stations and correctional and health facilities. About the role You will play a pivotal role in supporting QBuilds ambition to strengthen Queenslands building and construction industry by providing coordination of QBuild maintenance activities. Duties and skills involved: Produce high quality tender and quotation documentation for building projects and prepare accurate and timely estimates, quotations and project trade packages, including material lists and construction programs. Provide a level of supervisory services in respect to the delivery of construction, maintenance and upgrade work undertaken by QBuild, including assisting in the planning and delivery of projects through the efficient supervision and development of office staff, field staff and subcontractors. Coordinate and undertake the delivery of a high quality condition assessment services for QBuilds clients, including inspections/surveys of building elements and construction materials including collecting samples of suspected asbestos containing materials for laboratory testing. Undertake inspection services including tenancy management services and maintenance referrals on behalf of Government Employee Housing. Maintain a healthy and safe work environment, ensuring compliance with current human resource practices and principles, including employment equity, anti-discrimination and workplace health and safety. Ensure application of Safety Management System, including:

• Participate in and facilitate WHS audits under the direction of the Regional WHS Adviser;
• Undertake on-site WHS inspections including plant and equipment checks;
• Ensure all job documentation includes safework method statement or other risk assessment documentation as appropriate; and
• Promote and ensure a healthy and safe work environment through own practices and education and awareness raising of staff and contractors while working with the Regional WHS Advisor and QBuild WHS Manager to promote a consistent WHS approach in QBuild workplaces.
