Senior HR Manager, Australian Law Reform Commission - Executive Level 1
Our Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior HR Manager to join our dynamic team. This part-time role (0.6 FTE) will report into the Director of Operations and Finance, be part of the Operations team and is based in Melbourne. The successful candidate will lead key HR projects, develop and implement HR policies and strategies across the organisation, and provide expert advice and support to the organisations people managers and leadership team.The role demands good knowledge of the legal and regulatory environment governing a small Commonwealth agency, excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining a high standard of professionalism and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide proactive HR leadership, helping managers to grow and develop their teams.
- Drive HR-related projects and positive change across the ALRC, including the further strengthening and implementation of HR policies, processes and strategies.
- Maintain and improve HR systems and support services, including leading on all aspects of leave, recruitment, retention and induction.
- Provide advice on relevant HR laws and regulations and ALRC policies / the Enterprise Agreement, to guide the leadership team, people managers and employees.
- Manage and lead the effective delivery of payroll, including liaison with the payroll provider.
- Build relationships across the organisation and APS more broadly, championing diversity, collaboration and professionalism.
- Other administrative support duties as required to support the efficient operation of the organisation.
Selection Criteria:
In addition to senior human resources experience, you will have:
- Experience working with relevant HR laws and regulations, as they relate to a small Commonwealth agency.
- Experience in identifying HR issues, developing and implementing solutions, and providing quality and strategic HR advice to support the leadership team and other people managers.
- Ability to introduce and lead HR / people management projects and change in a proactive, positive, and dynamic way.
- Outstanding organisational skills and the ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
- Ability to operate across a range of business applications and improve operational processes.
- Curiosity and lateral thinking skills for problem-solving; and a commitment to an inclusive and collaborative workforce.
An Australian HR Institute (AHRI) Certification or similar certification such as a Certificate IV in Human Resource Management is desirable.
