Research Ethics Officer

We are seeking a Research Ethics Officer to join our Research Ethics Team, where they will support the ethics process at Edith Cowan University (ECU). The Research Ethics Officer provides support to current and future researchers, the various ethics committees and has the opportunity to play a part in enabling world-class research. Responsibilities include the provision of expert advice to research staff and students and the effective management of correspondence and official records relating to the ethical review of research protocols. The position operates within a governance framework with established guidelines, policies and processes. We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic person who is flexible and capable of learning the various computer systems/applications and databases that are critical to this role. The successful person will be able to use their initiative, make sound judgements, have capability to write clearly and concisely and operate independently and will often need to manage confidential issues in a sensitive manner. Strong administrative skills, experience in agenda preparation and minute taking and the ability to manage a number of competing priorities and deadlines are important. An awareness of the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research (2023) and the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research would be an advantage. To be successful in this role you will need: Experience in an administration role in higher education, government or the research sector The ability to learn and use various computer systems An awareness of the codes and standards that underpin research ethics Strong writing and communication skills You will also demonstrate personal attributes that are congruent with the Universitys values of Integrity, Respect, Rational Inquiry, Courage and Personal Excellence. Benefits & Remuneration This full-time, ongoing position attracts a remuneration of $81,614 - $90,691 pa and a 17% University superannuation contribution. ECU supports a work/life balance for staff.
