Microfinance Officer

Join our dedicated team at UnitingSA as a Microfinance Officer, where youll play a pivotal role in supporting individuals and families who need access to no-interest loans and other vital microfinance products.
In this rewarding position, youll help guide people through the No Interest Loan Scheme (NILS) process, ensuring that they have the support they need to manage their finances and access the resources to build a more stable future. Youll also foster important community partnerships to help raise awareness and ensure that everyone who needs support can find the assistance they deserve.
This is a fixed-term, part-time role until 30th June 2025, with the potential for extension based on funding. Its an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of others while working in a dynamic and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage Loans & Documentation: You will be responsible for accurately processing loan applications and keeping detailed records, ensuring that all customer data is up to date and compliant with privacy policies.
- Provide Exceptional Customer Service: You will be the go-to person for clients and community partners, building strong relationships and guiding customers through the loan process.
- Collaborate & Promote: Work closely with external agencies, service providers, and local businesses to enhance service delivery and promote community programs that offer real, lasting support.
- Administrative Excellence: From scheduling appointments to maintaining volunteer rosters and preparing reports, your attention to detail will help the program run smoothly and effectively.
What Were Looking For:
- A Community Mindset: You have a genuine interest in supporting vulnerable people, particularly those from low-income households or complex life circumstances.
- Experience & Qualifications: A background in Community Services (or a similar field) with a proven track record of working in a supportive role. A current SA drivers licence, Police Clearance, Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker Check are essential.
- Data Savvy: Youre comfortable analysing financial data and identifying trends, patterns, and areas for improvement.
- Communication Skills: You have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds, offering respectful and culturally sensitive service.
- Team Player with Leadership Potential: While you can work independently, you thrive in a collaborative environment and are excited about leading and supporting volunteers to help deliver the program.
