About the role

We are seeking a visionary and strategic leader to join the organisation as Group Manager, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Strategy and Outcomes. This pivotal role will champion self-determination and reconciliation, helping ensure that the voices, values, and aspirations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are embedded across all levels of our work.

Working closely with our CEO, Board and Executive Team, the Group Manager will provide high-level leadership, advice and strategic oversight of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander strategy, and delivery of key outcomes in our RAP and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Employment and Volunteering Strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice to the CEO, Board, and senior leaders on key issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
  • Develop and implement relevant plans and strategies, aligned to TSFs strategic goals and priorities, RAP and Employment Strategy
  • Establish effective collaboration practices, including joint planning, co-design of projects and purposeful engagement with relevant functions across the organisation to maximise self-determination and organisational outcomes.
  • Represent and lead engagement with internal and external stakeholders to advance RAP commitments
  • Oversee and validate that all programs, services, and partnerships are culturally competent, relevant, and aligned with the needs and aspirations of First Nations communities
  • Collaborate with the People and Culture team on execution of our First Nations Employment and Volunteering Strategy, and alignment with broader diversity, equity and inclusion actions and plan

About you

You are a strategic leader who brings deep knowledge and lived experience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. As well as passion for advancing educational outcomes for First Nations communities, you will bring:

  • Demonstrated success leading and managing diverse teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive strategic initiatives, manage complex projects and deliver outcomes in a large organisation.
  • Deep understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, including historical, economic and social factors impacting outcomes.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively with a broad range of stakeholders to achieve mutually agreed outcomes.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams.
  • Awareness of contemporary child safeguarding practices and legal requirements.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and cultural leadership skills.
