Currently, there are around 4.3 million Australians with a disability. The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare. As an Agency, we support more than 600,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability. For many Australians, this will be the first time they receive the disability support they need. The NDIA is designed to enhance the quality of life and increase economic and social participation for people with disability and will mean a peace of mind for every Australian.
A new role awaitsWe have an exciting opportunity for a director to join our team in National Early Childhood (NEC). Our branch provides participant plans and access supports for young children and their families. The NECB are a specialised team that services participants during early childhood (under 9 years of age). We strive to give children and their families timely and quality supports during these developmental years, to ensure the best possible start in life.
Where you can add valueThe EL2 Director Service Delivery at the NDIA is responsible for leading a team to deliver quality outcomes in a complex and sensitive environment. This role involves significant leadership, planning, resource management, performance management, and decision-making, with delegated authority to resolve issues and manage risks across various detailed activities. Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
- Ensuring jurisdictional staffing requirements are aligned with demand.
- Drawing on feedback and performance information to continuously improve Scheme outcomes and share insights across the network.
- Providing regular reporting on conformance with Scheme management controls and on client related trend analysis.
- Ensuring performance requirements are met within timeframes and quality expectations.
- Exercising delegations on complex plan approval.
- Developing, implementing and sharing best practice processes, including the participation in or leading of relevant internal communities of practice.
- Overseeing, implementing and contributing to policy changes within the national framework.
- Undertaking decision reviews, guiding Agency staff in complaints management and complex complaint handling.
- Possess strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to collaborate effectively to identify opportunities and achieve outcomes.
- Be self-motivated, responsive, and proactive, with a clear understanding of the organisations objectives and how they align with the broader government agenda.
- Be capable of translating strategy into operational goals, fostering a shared sense of purpose within the business unit, and engaging others in the strategic direction of the work area.
- Demonstrate excellent judgement, professional resilience, and personal drive.
- Have the ability to manage work allocation, deliver practical solutions, and lead large service delivery teams to achieve quality outcomes.
- Exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and a passion for building team capability through coaching and feedback.
- Empathise with the challenges faced by children with disabilities and their carers.
- A background in the early childhood sector, disability sector, allied health, or public service.
- The ability to manage competing requests, projects, and strategic priorities.

We intend to fill this role in an ongoing capacity, however non-ongoing roles up to 12 months with the possibility of extension up to 2 years may be offered.
Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police History check, Worker Screening check and/or Working with Children Check (where required) and provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.
