About the Department

The department provides a wide range of learning and development support and services.

The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.

About the Division

The Assurance, Knowledge and Executive Services Division (AKESD) provides expert advice and support to the department through a range of portfolio, advisory and assurance services, including:

  • internal audit, VAGO audits, School Council Financial Assurance program
  • Cabinet and Parliament support, including board appointments
  • Freedom of Information
  • briefings and correspondence support
  • the Departmental Liaison Unit
  • privacy advice and support
  • records and digital content management, SharePoint and copyright advice and support
  • mail services.

The Knowledge Privacy and Records Branch within AKESD is responsible for leading the departments management of corporate knowledge, privacy, intellectual property, and records. This accountability includes leading and supporting departmental compliance with relevant legislation and standards.

About the Role

The Digital Communication Advisor will contribute towards the development, design and management of the departments intranet and other communication channels. The incumbent supports the execution of departmental communication plans, strategies, and projects, whilst offering high-quality advice and support on digital communication to stakeholders.

The role supports the Strategic Operations team and department stakeholders to deliver digital content that meets best practice digital and knowledge management standards.

The role will:

  • review content against digital standards requirements, and suggest improvements where appropriate
  • give advice to content owners on digital standards and assist them to be advocates of best practice
  • format content into correct styles and heading structures
  • conduct technical checks on content, for example, broken link checking
  • carry out other digital communications activities as required.

  • Understands the impact of internal IT landscape to daily operations.
  • Has broad understanding on implementation activities related to the introduction and ongoing maintenance of new digital and technology tools.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Takes steps to add value for the client or stakeholder.
  • Links people with other areas as appropriate.
  • Constructively deals with stakeholder issues.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

Tertiary qualification and or/relevant experience in digital communications.
