Primary objective Manage a multidisciplinary team of allied health professionals and specialist teaching staff in wellbeing and inclusion. Coordinate and manage the services provided to system leaders and schools to ensure children and students are effectively accessing the curriculum and maximising their educational outcomes. Context statement Student Wellbeing and Inclusion Programs and Services (SWIPS) is part of Inclusion and Engagement Services, which provides differentiated support services to reform inclusion and improve engagement and access to learning for children, students, and communities. SWIPS provides advice, guidance and support to clients and stakeholders to ensure all children and students are welcomed into an inclusive learning environment and are able to engage effectively with education and learn to their full potential. Key duties and responsibilities 1. Manage SWIPS service delivery in the region across multiple school locations and virtually to ensure multidisciplinary staff are providing high quality, evidence-led, efficient, and child-centred wellbeing, and inclusion services. 2. Manage the performance of the team including resource allocation, performance management and leave entitlements, and collaborate with other assistant directors on staff recruitment and coaching. 3. Ensure service delivery is aligned with professional best practice; NTG frameworks and strategies (e.g. Framework for Inclusion, Education Engagement strategy and Education NT strategy); and other regional SWIPS service delivery teams (using a common practice framework and service delivery model). 4. Develop and maintain close working relationships with school and system leaders to coordinate service planning and delivery to ensure SWIPS services meet the unique demands of each community, school, and child in the region. 5. Facilitate regular learning forums with professional practice leaders to ensure high quality, evidence-informed services are being provided across all regions, and practice issues are escalated appropriately. 6. Ensure the delivery of services in the region is effectively monitored, measured, and reported in accordance with departmental and NTG policies, and relevant legislation. 7. Using data and insights to make decisions around differentiated support needs for service and delivery improvements. Selection criteria Essential 1. Ability to lead and manage a multidisciplinary team including managing the performance of the team and establishing a positive workplace culture that encourages practice excellence, collaboration, resilience, and teamwork. 2. Exceptional collaborating and influencing skills, with the demonstrated ability to establish and sustain productive working relationships across the region, and with other key internal and external stakeholders. 3. Strong customer service ethos and outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures in remote contexts, in particular Aboriginal and young people and their families across socio-economic, geographic and cultural groups. 4. Demonstrated experience in complex service delivery and ability to analyse and monitor data for quality reporting and insights. 5. Demonstrated initiative to improve service delivery, processes, and programs to facilitate and drive improvement at a system level, so as to maximise the educational outcomes of students. 6. Demonstrated ability to be creative, innovative, and champion new ways of working, including ability to manage complexity of multiple and often competing task priorities. 7. Substantial working knowledge and understanding of current student wellbeing and inclusion practices and trends nationally and internationally, including the delivery of preventative, targeted and individual practices. Desirable 1. Recognised tertiary qualification in Allied Health or Teaching that is relevant to inclusive education. Visits to remote schools may necessitate travel by 4x4 vehicle on unsealed roads or light aircraft and include overnight stays in remote communities of up to four days.
