Assistant Accountant - Grants

  • 12-month contract, with potential long-term option

Long-term contract for this complex public sector organisation, close to Central Station

Your new company

You will be joining a complex, public sector organisation that thrives on new technology and runs exciting projects. You will be part of an organisation that gives back to the community and values entrepreneurial thought.

Your new role

Youll be working in a large finance team, with oversight across the organisation, supporting various finance leaders to keep track of their grants and funding. The role involves lots of stakeholder management, both internally and externally, and is varied and interesting accounting work. Your main duties will cover the following:

  • Tracking of financial expenditure against grant wording
  • Processing invoices
  • Preparing journals
  • Preparing acquittals
  • Financial reporting on project expenses
  • Variance analysis
  • Coordinating the project costing and coding to ensure budgets are allocated correctly
  • Daily use of Excel and PowerBI to ensure accuracy of analysis and reporting
  • Supporting colleagues to gather appropriate documentation

What youll need to succeed

You will be working in a dynamic and fast-paced organisation, and will require the following experience and skills:

  • Strong analytical skills, including experience using Excel at an advanced level
  • Stakeholder management skills
  • Degree in accounting, ideally working towards a CPA/CA or similar
  • A background in grant management or project accounting would be highly regarded.
  • Experience in a large, complex business would also be desirable.
