About the role

The After Hours Nurse Manager (AHNM) represents the leadership team after hours and is responsible for operational management of the facility after hours including patient flow, bed management and staffing. The AHNM is part of the management team supporting clinical staff in the planning, delivery and evaluation of integrated clinical care; ensuring clinical care for the patient within the service is safe, well managed and of the highest quality and linking effectively to the in hours management team to ensure care provided is continuous. The position is also responsible for a broad range of Nursing and Midwifery matters as well as ensuring appropriate emergency responses after hours.

Clinician engagement and leadership has been a prominent feature of the public health system for a number of years, where clinician led clinical standards, safety and quality improvements have become a major focus. The Local Health District (LHD) is committed to the strengthening and ongoing involvement and clinician engagement of staff that provide direct patient care in the planning, delivery, improvement and evaluation of health services.
