The Role

We are seeking experienced Civil Construction Supervisors to lead and manage our multi-disciplinary construction teams. The Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day on-site activities of construction projects, ensuring safety, quality, and adherence to schedules. They act as a key point of contact on-site, facilitating clear communication among workers. This role requires a solid understanding of construction processes, adaptability to on-site challenges, and a focus on successful project execution.

As an on-site leader, the Supervisor fosters collaboration and accountability among the team, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard. They must maintain composure in dynamic environments, making informed decisions and communicating effectively to project managers and superintendents to keep the project on track. Additionally, the Supervisor upholds the values and standards of Farrelly Construction Services Pty Ltd by enforcing company policies, adhering to industry regulations, and embracing continuous improvement in practices and procedures.

This is a site-based role primarily located in the Hunter Valley on a 5-2 (Mon-Fri) roster, with occasional travel to other FCS sites across NSW as required.

As part of the pre-employment process, successful candidates must complete and pass the following:

  • Coal Board Order 43 Medical

  • Drug and alcohol screening

  • Audiometric testing

Employment Type: Full-Time

Remuneration: $52.49 per hour, plus penalties and allowances

Company Vehicle & fuel card

10 Hour working days - 8 hours at ordinary time and 2 hours at time & a half.

RDO accrual

17.5% annual leave loading

Primary Responsibilities & Duties:

Duties including but not limited to:

  • Supervise and coordinate construction teams and subcontractors to ensure work progresses efficiently and safely.

  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and support to crew members, fostering a strong team dynamic.

  • Oversee the installation, maintenance, and inspection of civil construction works, ensuring compliance with project specifications and standards.

  • Monitor work schedules to ensure timely delivery of milestones.

  • Coordinate equipment and material deliveries to align with project requirements and timelines

  • Inspect ongoing work to ensure it meets project specifications, contract requirements, and quality standards.

  • Assist in the development and implementation of QA documentation and procedures

  • Act as a key point of contact between the site team, construction superintendent, and other stakeholders.

  • Conduct regular toolbox talks and pre-start meetings to ensure team alignment on safety, objectives, and expectations.

  • Provide updates and progress reports to the Construction Superintendent and Project Manager.

  • Ensure all work complies with site safety policies and procedures.

  • Identify and mitigate potential risks or hazards, promoting a culture of safety-first behaviour.

  • Conduct regular site inspections to uphold safety and environmental standards.

  • Address challenges and obstacles proactively, implementing practical solutions to minimise delays or disruptions.

  • Provide on-the-spot technical advice and support to resolve construction issues.

Skills, Qualifications, Attributes and Experience:

  • Construction White Card (mandatory).

  • Current Drivers License (mandatory).

  • Supervisor qualifications S123, G189 & G2 are highly desirable.

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a civil construction supervisory role within the Mining or Infrastructure sectors.

  • Proven ability to manage teams and subcontractors effectively to achieve project goals.

  • Ability to read and interpret civil construction drawings, specifications, and schedules.

  • Strong organisational skills to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks effectively.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and familiar with construction project management software.

  • Strong leadership qualities to guide and inspire teams.

  • Effective communication skills to liaise with various stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and team members.

  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to remain calm under pressure.

  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality outcomes.
