Store/Branch Manager, Metcash Food Service & Convenience, Townsville.

This isn't just a store to run. It's a business to lead. You'll own the P&L, the people, the partnerships, and the performance of a branch that plays a genuine role in feeding North Queensland.

About the Opportunity\n

Reporting to the Regional General Manager Operations, you'll take full accountability for the safe, profitable and high‑performing operation of our Townsville Branch. You'll lead a team of managers, supervisors and frontline staff, manage our 3PL transport partners, and be the driving force behind exceptional DIFOT service and customer relationships. It's a hands‑on, high‑visibility role for someone who wants to lead from the front — and it comes with the lifestyle perks of one of Queensland's most livable regional cities.

In this Role\n

• Own and deliver the branch's sales and financial budgets, identifying and executing strategies to hit targets
\n
• Find and implement efficiencies that improve the branch's cost of doing business
\n
• Champion a safe, engaged workplace — leading SHE policies, systems and risk management for your site
\n
• Ensure timely reporting, escalation and investigation of safety hazards and incidents
\n
• Lead the induction, onboarding, training and development of a large and diverse team
\n
• Build succession plans and coach your managers, supervisors and team members to grow
\n
• Manage 3PL and 4PL transport partners to keep DIFOT performance front and centre
\n
• Build strong relationships with customers and suppliers, delivering in full and on time, every time
\n

What are we looking for?\n

\n
• Proven experience managing large, multi‑site or multi‑team operations, ideally within FMCG, retail or warehousing
\n
• Solid P&L and commercial acumen, with confidence owning a budget and driving results
\n
• Experience managing 3PL/4PL transport providers and negotiating transport tenders
\n
• A track record of leading, coaching and developing people — including performance conversations and succession planning
\n
• Comfort navigating union EA negotiations and site‑specific workplace processes
\n
• Strong stakeholder and conflict‑resolution skills, with a knack for the tough conversations
\n
• Solid understanding of WHS, HACCP, chain of responsibility and safety compliance
\n
• A genuine passion for customer service, DIFOT and operational excellence — and the drive to make Townsville your next great chapter
\n
